Les adjectifs possessifs are used to show possession or relationship. They tell us who something belongs to. In English, they correspond to my, your, his, her, our, your and their. French possessive adjectives agree with the noun that follows them, not with the person who owns it.

In French, adjectives generally agree with the noun in gender and number.
Le genre des adjectifs
French adjectives generally have a masculine and a feminine form.
Masculine and Feminine
For many adjectives, the feminine form is formed by adding -e.

Paul is tall. -
Marie est grande.
Marie is tall. -
Il est français.
He is French. -
Elle est française.
She is French.
The adjective agrees with the noun:

Past Participle or Adjective?
A past participle can be used as part of a verb or as an adjective.
As part of the passé composé

Le professeur a fermé la porte.
The teacher closed the door.
Here, fermé is part of the verb a fermé.
As an adjective

La porte est fermée.
The door is closed.
Here, fermée describes the state of the door and functions as an adjective.
Another example

Le repas est préparé.
The meal is prepared.
This distinction becomes particularly useful when learning the passé composé and other compound tenses.
